Rakan Hamdi Yahya Al-Najjar was 10 years old when Israelis bombed his home on 23 May 2025. Rakan was martyred with eight of his siblings. Rakan’s father would die a few days later from his injuries from the blast.

Rakan’s father, Hamdi was a doctor. His mother, Dr Alaa al-Najjar, is a respected pediatrician. One of her 10 children survived, Alan. He was badly injured - his hand was amputated.

Rakan’s brothers and sisters killed by Israel in Khan Younis are Yahya, Ruslan, Jubran, Eve, Revan, Sayden, Luqman and Sidra. Sayden was six months old.
